Perhaps the drivers in your suburb simply ignore the parking rules more than others?

Or maybe there just isn’t enough parking in your local council area for everyone.

Whatever the reason, nine.com.au has obtained data to figure out once and for all which parts of Sydney are getting slapped with the most parking violation notices.

Unsurprisingly, the City of Sydney, responsible for parking in the Sydney CBD, topped the offense categories analyzed by nine.com.au during the 2019/20 fiscal year.

Sydney city inspectors handed out a whopping 230,773 tickets to drivers who violated parking laws in that period.

Sydney’s Inner West ranked second with 92,097 offenses, with Waverley in the eastern suburbs recording 57,948 infractions in third place.

In the west, Parramatta, with 48,586, and Canterbury-Bankstown rounded out the top five, with Northern Beaches following with 40,077.

Across the state of New South Wales, more than 1.1 million parking tickets were issued last year.

When it came to violating parking laws within school zones, Canterbury-Bankstown drivers were the worst offenders and received 1821 fines.

Cumberland, also in the west of the city, ranked second, with 1,367 fines.

Parramatta, Georges River and Blacktown were very close.

The city of Sydney returned to the top for cracking down on drivers who ignored no-stop signs, with 16,008 motorists caught by guards.

Canterbury-Bankstown drivers were fined 12,733 times, and the adjacent Fairfield Council was next with 10,051.

Parking beyond the allowed time saw the majority of tickets issued for drivers in the Sydney CBD, North Shore and Eastern Suburbs.

Drivers stayed more than their welcome in the city of Sydney 48,137 times, with the Inner West next with 32,072.

Parking inspectors captured 16,941 drivers in Woollahra, 15,148 in North Sydney and 14,482 in Waverley.
