In Spain, the beneficiaries of the IMV already exceed the beneficiaries of Minimum Insertion Income (RRMM). This aid can be requested from the month of June 2020 through the Social Security electronic headquarters and, when possible, at the Social Security Service and Information Centers. To access this benefit you must have a series of requirements for processing.

These requirements include economic vulnerability, that the holder is between 23 and 65 years old -except when there are dependent minors-, have more than one year of legal and effective residence in Spain or that the assets, once the habitual residence has been deducted, is less than three times the annual guaranteed rent for a single-person household. The minimum vital income establishes a level of Guaranteed income of between 461 and 1,100 euros per month depending on the type of family, which is reached by supplementing other possible income with help.

Likewise, this past December a new children’s aid supplement which was approved by the full Senate after including various technical amendments. This supplement consists of an amount of 100 euros per household per month in the case of children up to 3 years of age, 70 euros per month for each child between 3 and 6 years of age, and 50 euros per month for each minor between 6 and 18 years.

Revaluation for 2022

In addition, the possibility of requesting the IMV for the income of the current year will become permanent and the income and equity thresholds will be raised for these cases, so that the IMV is more sensitive to situations of sudden poverty. If in 2020 positive resolutions were 15.3%, until March 2021 they were 27.9% and until September 30.4%. Until last September 2021, 1.45 million applications had been received, of which 91% were valid files.

In the first 15 months since its launch, 1.24 million applications have been processed, while almost 100,000 remain unresolved (97,513). During this year 2022 the minimum pensions, non-contributory pensions and the Minimum Vital Income (IMV) will be revalued 3%, one half point more than the increase that contributory pensions will experience. In this sense, the guaranteed income for the family unit made up of an adult will be 5,889.6 euros for this year 2022.

in the previous Social Security information table you can see the annual variation depending on the unit of coexistence. Likewise, during the second half of January, the beneficiaries of the Minimum Vital Income will receive a compensatory payment of 1.6% in line with the revaluation of last year 2021 (which was lower than the CPI registered for that year). This column includes the guaranteed income initially planned for 2021 together with said compensatory payment.
