The family of a man who died in an accident on Christmas Eve paid tribute to a “wonderful brother, loving husband and caring father”.

Abiodun Oguntayo, 41, from Stevenage, was killed during a single vehicle collision on the A1(M) at South Mimms.

In a statement issued today (Monday), his family said: “In loving memory of a special brother and beloved husband.

“Since you died life has not been the same.

“The time we spent together meant a lot to me, I have many cherished memories as we grew up happily together.

“Your thoughtfulness and the way you care will forever be in our hearts.

“Your wife, Joanna, misses you so much and the kids think you’ll be back.”

He continues, “You really are a wonderful brother, a loving husband, and a caring father.

“Our hearts still ache with sadness and secret tears still flow. What it meant to lose you, no one will ever know.

“You will be missed. We love you even in death.

“Keep resting in the bosom of our Lord Jesus…”

Abiodun’s family is supported by specially trained officers and investigations into the collision continue.

It happened around 9:00 p.m. on A1M between junctions 1 and 2.

Abiodun’s vehicle, a gray Mercedes GLC 350, skidded off the road and crashed into trees.

Police urged any witnesses or people with information to contact officers via 101 citing Op Kodiak.
