A woman was stabbed to death and a man killed after being hit by a car in west London today in a double tragedy during morning rush hour.

Officers received reports of a stabbing in Maida Vale around 9 a.m., and when they arrived at the scene they also found a man who had been hit by a car.

Ambulance crews were called, as well as the London Fire Brigade, who freed the man who was trapped under the vehicle, but both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
