A woman was stabbed to death and a man killed after being hit by a car in west London today in a double tragedy during morning rush hour.
Officers received reports of a stabbing in Maida Vale around 9 a.m., and when they arrived at the scene they also found a man who had been hit by a car.
Ambulance crews were called, as well as the London Fire Brigade, who freed the man who was trapped under the vehicle, but both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Metropolitan Police said it had launched “an urgent investigation” after the horror and officers were working to inform the families of those killed.
Detectives have not made any arrests and such post-mortem examinations will be arranged. Neighborhood roads were closed with buses 31, 36, 228 and 328 all on detour.
