Best dressed award goes to… – The Australian Jewish News

The Oscars are about as glitz and glam as it gets. For months leading up to the award ceremony, guests are in fittings for what to wear and nerves are at an all-time high anticipating who will win the coveted gold statue.

But for one Academy Award winner, it was his dressing gown that stole the show.

Hans Zimmer, whose mother escaped the Nazis in 1939, won Best Original Score for Dune. The film score composer and record producer couldn’t be at the award show in person – instead, his award was accepted on his behalf by star Jason Momoa – but Zimmer did Tweet his reaction, charming everyone the world over.

About 45 minutes into the televised ceremony, Zimmer tweeted: “It’s 2am in Amsterdam, and my daughter Zoe woke me up to go to the hotel bar. Wow!!”

Alongside the tweet were two pictures of Zimmer in his hotel robe, holding an Oscars statue. Social media clearly lapped it all up, with more than 19K retweets and over 176K likes.

It seems Zimmer’s humility and straight-up adorability, as well as that picture-perfect bathrobe, was the perfect antidote to the stressful Oscars ceremony.
