Peninsula Sotheby’s International Realty CEO Rob Curtain said this touch was the owners’ tribute to the “Versace hotel in Queensland that offers that level of luxury.”

“It runs throughout the house, you don’t lose that hotel feel,” Curtain said. “From the front doors, you almost expect a bellboy to open the doors for you when you enter.”

Other European-designed details are spread throughout the palatial four-bedroom floor, including quaint balconies, a poolside outdoor area, romantic arches, and wrought-iron gates.

“It has beautiful French doors that open in the summer like they would on the Mediterranean coast,” he said.

The property has been a permanent family residence for a few years, but vendors have now listed it at a price of between $ 5.5 million and $ 5.9 million and hope they can get closer to their children.

Mr. Curtain said the asking price was still “well below half the cost” that buyers would face for “an oceanfront opportunity” of this caliber on the Mornington Peninsula.

“Cowes still has its own unique identity, it’s more like what Sorrento and Portsea were 30 years ago,” he added.

“And there aren’t too many houses like this in the area.”

Villa Familia also has lavender, citrus and vegetable orchards with an automatic irrigation system, its own dam on the property and 150,000L of fresh water storage.

Curtain also noted that the expansive block had the potential to add a tennis court or additional accommodation if the buyers wanted to create their own complex.
